Protect Your Images with Custom Watermarks

Watermarking is the simplest way to assert ownership over your visual content. Whether you are a photographer sharing proofs with clients, a designer posting portfolio work online, or a business protecting product images from unauthorized use, a visible watermark discourages theft while still showcasing your work.

This tool applies watermarks entirely in your browser. Add your logo, your brand name, or any custom text to your images with full control over placement, size, opacity, and rotation. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Text Watermarks vs. Image Watermarks

Text watermarks are the quickest option. Type your name, brand, or copyright notice, choose a font and color, and position it on the image. Text watermarks are particularly effective when tiled diagonally across the entire image, making it difficult for someone to crop or clone-stamp them out.

Image watermarks use a logo or graphic overlay. Upload a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result. Image watermarks convey professionalism and brand recognition instantly. They work especially well in a corner position with reduced opacity so the underlying image remains the focal point.

The ideal watermark is visible enough to establish ownership but subtle enough not to distract from the image itself. An opacity between 30-50% strikes this balance for most use cases. Position the watermark over a complex area of the image rather than a solid background, as watermarks over flat areas are easier to remove with editing tools.

Watermarking Best Practices

For portfolio and proof images, use a large, centered, semi-transparent watermark that covers a significant portion of the image. This prevents anyone from using the image commercially while still showing the client what the final product looks like. Once the client pays, deliver the unwatermarked version.

For social media and blog images, a small logo in one corner is usually sufficient. It brands the content without being intrusive. Place it over a detailed area of the image rather than empty sky or a solid background to make removal more difficult.

For stock photography and product images, consider a repeating tiled watermark. This pattern covers the entire image and is extremely difficult to remove, providing the strongest protection against unauthorized use. The trade-off is a more intrusive visual presence, so use lower opacity settings to keep the underlying image clearly visible.

Privacy Advantage of Local Processing

Many online watermarking services require you to upload your images to their servers. This raises privacy and intellectual property concerns, especially for unpublished work or client deliverables under NDA. Because this tool processes everything in your browser, your images never travel over the network. The watermarked file is generated on your device and stays on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add both text and image watermarks?

Yes. You can overlay a text watermark with custom font, size, and color, or use your own image such as a logo. Both options support adjustable opacity and positioning.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The watermark is applied using the HTML5 Canvas API entirely within your browser. Your original image and the watermarked result never leave your device.

Can I watermark multiple images at once?

Yes. You can select multiple images and the tool will apply the same watermark settings to all of them, allowing you to download each watermarked version individually.
